KG's Return Helps Boston beat Returning Ex-Celtics.

(Brian Babineau) For the first time Kevin Garnett faced his old team, the Minnesota Timberwolves and with his comeback in the fourth quarter, he helped get a crucial steal (left) to seal victory. Returning for the first time since being traded were Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Sebastian Telfair and Gerald Green. (Pictured here, here, here and here with the Celtics) Also returning was near Celtic icon of the late 90's and early in the new Millenium Antoine Walker (here with the C's). The final score of the game was 87-86, and this was a game the Celtics easily could've lost. Rookie Corey Brewer tried inbounding the ball late but Boston was able to get a rare five-count, which was undoubtedly a key possession. When Boston was down one, Ray Allen drove right (from the top of the key) and courtesy of Kevin Garnett screening two players got an open look at the rim, missed it, but luckily Kendrick Perkins (21 points while shooting 80% from the field) was right there to tip it in. The Timberwolves proceeded to call a time out, and when play resumed inbounded the ball to Jefferson in the near side corner. Rondo promptly came over to double, (with Perk already there) "Big Al" skipped it to the top of the key to Telfair, Garnett closed out and as "Bassy" attempted a crossover KG tipped it away, chased it down, dove on the ball and secured the win. He then got fired up as if it was a playoff game, doing his now customary jersey popping and saying "this is what I'm talking about!" KG's invovlement in this play, and the last few minutes or so were in jeapordy when he left in the scond half with a streaigned oblique.

Paul Pierce shot struggled from the field (4-15) but still managed 19 points. Garnett only had 10 but dominated the boards with 16. Ray Allen also struggled shooting 4-18 from the field, ending up with 12 points.

For the T-Wolves, Sebastian Telfair led the way with 18 points to go along with 6 assissts. Al Jefferson had 15 points and 5 rebounds. Ryan Gomes and Rashad McCants were the only other plays in double figures with 12 and 13 respectively. Gerald Green (8 points) today has reportedly requested to be traded, this according to The Boston Globe, check out the article here.
